Head in the clouds: Microsoft 365 backup myths
Preamble
While most people and companies would never take risks with data stored on premises, there appears to be a 'debate' around whether one needs to back up data saved to the cloud.
Office 365 is an excellent service that gives you access to your data from virtually any place at any time — and across many devices. As a software-as-a-service (SaaS) built on the industry-leading Azure public cloud, Office 365 offers users high reliability, geographic redundancy, and secure connectivity.
Whilst Microsoft doesn’t provide users with a comprehensive backup system for their underlying data, they do go a long way to safeguarding users against data loss. In this post I hope to clarify some of the misunderstandings and misconceptions about data storage in the cloud, and Office 365 in particular.
I hope to demonstrate that not only is backup highly prudent, it is recommended by none other than Microsoft themselves.
